Overview 

CRM Developer Extending for Dynamics 365 training provides a detailed understanding of the tools needed to be an effective developer in Microsoft Dynamics 365 as well as when and why you extend CRM with custom code, and what various custom code options are supported through the Software Development Kit (SDK). The first modules will got through setting up your environment to prepare for development. We will utilize not only Visual Studio but also several supporting tools and extensions. Attendees will learn best practices of data modeling and extending Dynamics while leveraging hands-on labs where you will learn how to create and deploy JavaScript and HTML web resources, build and deploy plugins, extend processes, and develop custom actions.

We will dive into the new Web API for operations such as updates and retrievals and practice creating virtual entities. Finally, to tie everything together, topics like solution management, PowerApps introduction, source control, and deployment will be covered.

Audience
This training is intended for administrators, configurators, and developers who have completed the PowerApps & Flow: Model Driven Apps training and desires to continue their technical education with Microsoft Dynamics 365. This course assumes working knowledge of skills outlined in the Citizen Developer courses and introductory level understanding of application development and the skills associated. This course is designed to provide a deeper understanding of how to extend Dynamics 365 as a developer and the tools that are used to extend Dynamics 365.

Recommended Prerequisites

Prerequisites are recommendations, and while not required, they are highly advised to ensure a successful learning experience:

  • Visual Studio License or Free Trial – Visual Studio Community will work, some labs are impacted by not being able connect to TFS (Required)
  • Microsoft Azure Account with Subscription
  • Dynamics 365 University – Boot Camp or equivalent application experience
  • Dynamics 365 University – PowerApps & Flow: Model Driven Apps
  • Technical Understanding of Dynamics 365
  • Development Skills

A car is not normally needed if staying at the Hewing Hotel. It's a 7 minute walk to PowerObjects HQ door to door.


Transportation
Flying: You'll be flying into Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) International airport. It's just 15 miles from the center of downtown Minneapolis. PowerObjects HQ is located in the North Loop neighborhood of downtown Minneapolis. The fastest way to get into the city and to the PowerObjects Main Office is by cab, Uber, or Lyft. The ride should take roughly 20 minutes. Public transportation is also an option. The Light Rail train's Blue Line leaves directly from either of MSP's two terminals and can bring you as close as 5 blocks from the office. It costs approximately $1.75 ($2.25 Rush Hour). Information can be found on Metro Transit's website.

Driving: Parking is available in the Premier Parking Ramp on the corner of Washington and 10 Ave N. The ramp is $3/hour and max $24/day (subject to change). Limited, metered street parking is available around the office as well.
